Here's a handful of things your spn_littlebro team is raving about right now. (And if you like them as much as we do, don't forget to comment to the person who created it!)

Who's Hurting Sam or Jared Lately?

• cherry916 has a self-rec this issue: the WIP Web of Deception, that features kidnapped, beaten, tortured Sam, and some hurt!Dean, too. She says: "Not to toot my own horn or anything, but this is my first chapter story in a long while and I am actually really happy with the turnout and how it's progressing so far. In short it's a story centered around season 2 and their dad's death and how they each are dealing with it. They have to get past a psycho stalker and their own issues to reunite with each other. It is a WIP but I update regularly." SPN gen, PG-13


• dontknowmyname has culled another gem from the 2011 spn_j2_bigbang challenge! It's J2AU, NC17, over 70K, called The Lie That Keeps You Warm, written by aerithqoc and art by amtamburo. The summary says "Jensen is a Hollywood actor who’s quickly fading out of the spotlight. To create a new buzz, his agent suggests a double whammy tabloid shocker; Jensen Ackles is getting married... to a guy. But of all the people his agent picks to be his “groom-to-be”, Jensen didn’t expect it to be Jared Padalecki, the once dorky kid he used to bully in high school." And our reccer has this to say: "I haven't finished reading the fic yet, but I'm over halfway through and have lost a lot of sleep over it. Despite the torment Jared suffered as a kid and the depression he still battles, Jared remains a strong, compassionate, and forgiving character. It's the type of story that pulls at your heart, but then makes you all giddy a few seconds later."


• summer_sam_love challenge for 2011 is now open for artists to claim story summaries. There are some great hurt!Sam fic summaries there, so if you can create some visuals to go with one of those stories, you'd have a lot of fans! Join the community there for more details!

Featured Fic Recs (classics from the past and other treasures):

• harrigan says one of the most prolific SPN gen writers out there is K Hanna Korossy. "She has 345 stories on fanfiction.net (so far!), but I like her site here because the stories are sorted by missing scenes, vs. stand-alone short stories, vs. fic that originally appeared in a zine. For the missing scenes, she sorts them by season and identifies which episode the fic complements, so if you're in the mood for, say, a little extra hurt!Sam for Jump the Shark or After School Special, it's easy to find. (She's an equal opportunity whumper who treats both Sam and Dean with respect and affection, and most of her fic is h/c!) It's a good site to have bookmarked if LJ is acting up, too.

• art: cherry916 recs Sad Puppy Sammy by montanajin on deviantART. Cherry says it's "another cute little drawing of the 'I lost my shoe' moment and once you see chibi!Sammy's little eyes misting over and his puppy ears and tale you will fall over backwards to give him a hug."


• music videos: Our vidder expert ash48 has something really different and special to point out this time. A Supernatural Animation is a three-part vid "that is like fanfic and also features hurt!Sam AND! it's animation! I love the story the author fraggledragon has developed. The animation is also fabulous. There are 3 chapters and it is complete." The link is to the first chapter but the other two are easily found from there.


• music videos: cherry916 recs Supernatural Everything by MadMidgetTwins02 on youtube. "This is one of my favorite videos of all time," Cherry says. "It's centered around the episode Hunted (which hello major hurt!Sam bonus points), but it's in Dean's POV and shows how desperate and worried Dean was up until the moment he held Sam's face to make sure he was alright. And with the song Everything (acoustic) by Lifehouse I swear you will be in tears at the end."


• audiobook/podfic: ash48 is excited about Three Days on the Rack written by keerawa and read by reena_jenkins, available as an mp3 or m4b. Ash says: "This is very dark and won't be everyone's flavour. But I would really urge you (if you can) to look past the warnings, if they seem a little scary, because this is essentially about what Sam would do for Dean. It's that lovely combination of dark and beautiful. The production of the podfic is excellent. The reading is passionate and the use of music is fabulous. Even if you don't listen to podfic I recommend the story. Lot's of hurt!Sam too."

What Else?

\o/ Long available in Japan, Supernatural: The Anime Series is finally out on DVD in the US and Canada! And Jared voices Sam in each episode! Jensen lends his voice to Dean in some of the eps... and the DVD set includes special features like The Making of Supernatural: The Anime Series 2-Part Featurette, and also interviews with Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Series Creator Eric Kripke, Directors Shigeyuki Miya and Atsuko Ishizuka and Voice Actors Hiroki Touchi and Yuuya Uchida. Episode Introductions aer provided by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. And there are trailers and TV spots, too! Episode descriptions can be found here. Some are re-writes of season 1; some are new. But Sam has visions, so we should get to wallow in some anime hurt!Sam - right? Among other places, you can find the DVDs at Amazon in the US and Amazon in Canada. (Also available in Blu-Ray.) Hope the rest of the planet won't have to wait long...

Haha we're so glad it does! That's the whole purpose, to bring some lovin to our Sam and Jared and show the lovers of Hurt!Sam and Hurt!Jared the wonderful stuff that is out there!
