When did you become a SPN fan: For me, from the start of the series. For the US, about S02 I think, because my country didn't air the show until the US was in its second season :P (curios me is curios: does someone know exactly when the Netherlands started airing the show...?)
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: I love reading slash and gen, but I write mostly gen. There's something about exploring the taboos and awkward issues within a sibling relationship without the option of using sexual acts as a way of making up or distracting.
Spoilerphobe? Yes. Not leading up to a new season, but from episode to episode, yes.
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: I would love to see some what was meant by "he'll be back on his feet at least". I strongly believe Cas taking Sam's crazy wasn't some kind of magical cure and Sam has to face his memories at some point. Maybe even the crazy comes back in some other form? Psychologically!hurt!Sam it is :)
If the internet was to disappear today and you only had the chance to save one fan fiction (or one author), which (who) would it be? I don't have a specific author or piece of work that I hold dearest *shrug* Let's just keep the internets, yes? *beams*

When did you become a SPN fan: Umm... I think it was the winter hiatus of Season 6... so December of 2010
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: In the SPN fandom, het is like a unicorn :P I love het, but most of it is too porny w/out a plot so I usually stick to gen.
Spoilerphobe? Yes. Well, I try to be. Nominally. I want to be a spoilerphobe but when I see a spoiler warning, all self control goes flying out the window - I'm like, "GIMME that spoiler!!" lol!
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: I'd like to see them do an amnesiac!Sam episode... they haven't done that yet. Actually, any kind of hurt!Sam will do!

When did you become a SPN fan: I feel like I have been a fan since forever. I joined LJ in 2006 (man!)
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: I love slash and gen equally. I also discovered the joy of J2 a few years ago.
Spoilerphobe? Yes! (except at the moment! I need S8 spoilers...!)
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: Any hurt!Sam would suit me just fine. But I'd love to see his mental condition re-visited (surely lucifer didn't go away that easily?!) and any Sam in peril makes me a happy fangirl.
If the internet was to disappear today and you only had the chance to save one fan fiction (or one author), which (who) would it be? This is so tough because there would be so many fics and authors I would like to take with me. I'd probably kidnap zuben_eschamali (and easily another 20 authors on my flist!) and the fic would probably be feather_touch's Branded Yours. ::koff::I have a bit of a slave and D/s kink...(as long as it's loving) ;D

Anything else you want to share? I love my show, I love the boys and I really enjoy fandom. I vid mostly (well, when I have the time) and write meta occasionally and continue to try and improve my graphic skills. :)) I suppose I'm a sam!girl but I adore Dean beyond words. He's an amazing character. Basically - they belong together. There's no Sam without Dean and visa versa. :)

I totally agree about Sam's mental issues being revisited- I mean, sure, I was glad to have him fixed but I must say I was extremely disappointed with how they portrayed his hell!Hallucinations. I mean, seriously? Lucifer was annoying but there wasn't anything "hellish" about having hallucinations of a mischievous fallen angel singing Stairway to Heaven in your ear!

When did you become a SPN fan: Season 1! Not right away, but midway thru Season 1 (Christmas week) they ran a marathon and hooked me.
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: SPN gen (or het!) and primarily non-AU (but there are a few exceptions to both). And I'm a fan of well-written RPF/RPS too -- but pretty much only J2AU.
Spoilerphobe? I was up til season 8. Now -- *general* spoilers are fine.
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: Some physical hurt that isn't all better the next episode! (I loved the broken wrist--but the writers would never have done that if they didn't have to. I wanted Dean's broken leg to last longer. When they do wounds that aren't healed by the next episode, I ♥ that! I don't want the injury to completely incapacitate Sam, but make it harder for him to function for a week or two and I'll be a happy puddle of glee!)
If the internet were to disappear today and you only had the chance to save one fan fiction (or one author), which (who) would it be? That's a tough one. But I'm gonna go with the collected works of kroki_refur.
All time favorite episode: What Is and What Should Never Be. With Mystery Spot a close second I think. So many good ones, though!
Anything else you want to share? I almost never post to my LJ. Mostly fic and that's maybe 1-4x/year. And I like Sam and Dean fairly equally -- I'm more active in spn_littlebro because I think there's a lot more good hurt!Dean out there and I wanted to see more hurt!Sam to even things up!

Oh me too! What a waste that was. They could have made brilliant use of Dean having to hunt in a cast - even if only for one episode. (or show him being totally frustrated because he couldn't be out there helping Sam). I know I carry on about hurt!Sam but I love either boy being hurt - mostly because I love seeing the other one care and worry about the other.

I'm more active in spn_littlebro because I think there's a lot more good hurt!Dean out there and I wanted to see more hurt!Sam to even things up!

When did you become a SPN fan: In December 2010. I watched 115 episodes in ten days, catching up a day or two after winter hellatus started.
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: I prefer gen, pretty much only write it (even my pairing fics turn out more gen than not), but don't mind reading slash. Het is fairly limited in this fandom, but if it's well-written... *grabby hands*
Spoilerphobe? Absolutely not. Gimme spoilers! There are some shows I don't want to be spoiled for; SPN is not one of them.
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: Cas said he was only getting Sam back on his feet, so I'd like to see what happens when that isn't working so well anymore. And/or the return of Sam's powers.

When did you become a SPN fan: About 2009. I managed to catch an episode of Season 1 when it aired here with us in South Africa and immediately I went out, got the DVDs and from there I was hooked!
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: Love reading both gen and slash stories, but I write mainly slash myself.
Spoilerphobe? Yes!!! Episode 7.10 just aired here with us, but unfortunately I know what happens next because of spoilers and that saddens me a lot.
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: Any kind of hurt, as long as big brother Dean is there to take care and look after Sam.

When did you become a SPN fan: I had this conversation the other night with a friend and I'm pretty sure it was when I saw Nightmare on the TV here in the UK and I looked up the show and from there I was hooked.
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: I prefer gen, but I'm open to reading slash so long as it's quite natural (well as natural as it cane be) and not in your face or thrown in there for the sake on having a slash story.
Spoilerphobe? Nope! I need spoilers and I need them now!
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: Like most of you guys I'd love to see Sams hell memories revisited, as I don't think they fully resolved it and they can't leave it there. I'd also love to see some tied up/tortured Sam as in Jump The Shark... but y'know... more... I'd also love to see some more continuity with injuries or issues.

All time favorite episode: oohhh this is a toughie. It kinda depends what mood I'm in, if I need to laugh then Bad Day At Black Rock or Mystery Spot, or if I need a little angst fix it has to be Nightmare, My Bloody Valentine or my new favourite (and probably all time favourite for...er... obvious reasons) The Born Again Identity.

All time favorite episode: Hunted. I'm in love with the idea of Hunters seeing Sam as a threat and nothing tickled my fancy like Gordon Walker, and seeing how he was able to get the upper hand. Not to mention we got delicious hurt!Sam. Tied!up Dean, screaming for Sam, almost sobbing when he thought Sam was gone. Classic episode with the brotherly feels abound!

When did you become a SPN fan: Pretty early on. I fell in love with Jeffrey Dean Morgan on "Grey's Anatomy," and when I heard he was in another show, I ran to watch it. Then, I fell in love with Jensen and Jared and all that is SPN.

When did you become a SPN fan: Not till Oct 2011.A friend lent me SPN S1,it took me 6 months to start watching and then i was instantly OBSESSED. Was amazed at the online SPN fandom..discovered tumblr which led me here.

I remember not knowing what gen, het or slash meant, too!

Gen is a story that includes no romantic/sexual pairing. I'd guess that many fans would consider a story featuring Sam and Dean as brothers, but that includes some canon guy/girl relationship stuff as still gen, but other fans would disagree and say even that should be warned as including het.

Het is a story that includes (maybe features) a heterosexual romantic/sexual pairing: Sam/Jess... Dean/Lisa... etc.

Slash is a story that includes (maybe features) a same sex romantic/sexual pairing: Sam/Dean, Dean/Castiel... etc. If you're curious, slash has been around in fan fiction since at least the 1960s. The term 'slash' comes from the slash used to identify the pair, e.g. Kirk/Spock.

When did you become a SPN fan: Spring of 2008. I accidentally stumbled across "Jus in Bello," and I was hooked. Mainlined the first three seasons in a couple of months, then started watching S4 "live."

Preferably gen or slash. For het, I prefer to see the guys with Jess, Cassie, Sarah, or Lisa. (Maybe Ruby in a pinch.) Not too fond of reading about them with OCs.

When did you become a SPN fan: Not until about midway through season five I believe. My friend had all the seasons up to four on DVD and I decided to begin watching. As you can imagine, I immediately fell in love. I managed to catch up in time to watch the season finale when it premiered, then almost died when I when through my first hiatus (I was so used to the next episode being immediately available!)
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: Love Slash and Gen, but can only write Gen! All my slash comes out kind of awkward and stilted.
Spoilerphobe? Not really. I don't search them out, but if I see one, I definitely will read and probably look for more.
What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: Hmm, I kind of like mentally unstable Sam, more of that would be cool. Or hurt!lost!Sam, from being all alone and separate from Dean.

All time favorite episode: I love when we see young Sam and Dean! The Dark Side of the Moon holds a special place in my heart, because I love and hate it. Beautifully heartbreaking, and I defend Sam for hours in this episode.
Anything else you want to share? I'm kind of a bad friend. I will totally disappear of the raydar for months, then come back, then disappear again. Dark Side of the Moon is such an awesome episode. Painful.... but amazing. And yeah... I defend Sam in that ep also. But I also think that what Dean was remembering was totally manipulated by the angels. To this day I wonder if Dean ever realised that.

When did you become a SPN fan: Umm. It was the middle of S5, I was watching SPN on TNT & had gotten to the end of S2 on TNT we had a snow storm knocking out the power & when power back on it was S3 & I didn’t know what the heck they were talking about w/ “Dean’s deal” so I frantically searched to watch the episodes that I missed & could not find them. Found all 4S at Amazon - had to order all 4. I kept watching S3. When the DVD’s finally arrived I set out & watched each one right in a row - I had questions. I searched I signed up to Facebook & found people to talk to. That led me to LJ & it’s where I found Fan Fiction. I had started DVR’ing S5 so that when I got to the point I could watch it I had it on the DVR.
Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories: I never was a reader prior to this however, I have become addicted to SPN STORIES (all stories) I prefer general stories but I read all of them (blushes). What was interesting I found I really like Knotting fics (blushes again); &other kinks (ha). Who knew?

Thank God for PDF files I’ve been backing up what I have read so I can re-read. My 1st Fan Fiction Story & favorite would have to be Damned Demented Demons by Hells Half Acre (the sequels Vile Violent Vacations & timestamps too!). Her story about Sam coming back “Sam Is” is a tear jerker!
I’ve become a voracious reader since finding Fan Fiction of Supernatural – I’m OCD in this where I have a log of all the stories I’ve read, the authors, the dates I’ve read them & their descriptions (& their http address). Had to keep a log after reading so many stories & sometimes re-reading a story only then remember oh yeah I read this already but finished it because the story was great anyway.
Last year I read 2,484 stories (some shorts & some WIP’s continuing this year). My goal is to beat that record this year, as of today this year I’m at 1,158 stories so far - only time will tell if I get to read as many stories.
All time favorite episode: Awe come on, I have to pick one.... Can’t do it but I am willing one per season
S1 – Home with Faith as a very close second
S2 – Houses of the Holy with Born Under a Bad Sign a very close second
S3 – Mystery Spot with No Rest for the Wicked a very close second
S4 – The Monster at the End of this Book with Lazarus Rising a close second but then again there were only 2 episodes that I did not like this season Chris Angel is a Douche Bag & Family Remains. The rest I loved. When the Levee Breaks & Lucifer Rising are right up there with favorites; so this Season is really hard to choose one favorite.
S5 – Swan Song with the Real Ghostbusters as a close second. Again this season I loved the whole season; Point of No Return is right up there too as well as Two Minutes to Midnight like I said one is hard to pick.
S6 – Clap Your Hands If You Believe with Like A Virgin a close second. This S is also hard to choose only one episode; each of the episodes was so good & I liked how they built on each other.
S7 – Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magical Menagerie with The Mentalists a close second. You really want me to choose. This season was great as well & choosing is hard – The Born-Again Identity was a great episode too, loved how Castiel was able to help Sam.
I guess after reviewing if I had to say which one episode was my all time favorite would have to be THE MONSTER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK.
Anything else you want to share?I think that Dean should have a special power once he gets back. He’s been to Hell, Heaven, Faerie Realm & Purgatory – he should have some kind of special power after all that. I liked when Sam was able to use his powers against Demons – he should be able to w/o the need of Demon Blood; after all Ruby said “had it in him the whole time Dumbo you didn’t need the feather to fly”.

When did you become a SPN fan:I had been meaning to give the show a go but was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of seasons. Then, in March 2012, two things happened. I was looking for a way to avoid the Merlin spoilery and the whole six seasons went streaming on Netflix. And then I had a whole new obsession. I think I burned through the entire series in less than three months.

Do you have a preference of gen, het, slash stories:Pretty much all gen for this fandom.

Spoilerphobe?Yes? No? What was the question? I LOVE spoilers but they do alter my expectations and enjoyment of a show. I am notoriously weak at avoiding them, hence, my whole idea of a distraction being the reason I found this show in the first place. Now, I'm trying to avoid the spoilers for two shows and it is HARD 'cause I'm dying to know!

What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8:Where to begin!?! There's so much "fallout" from the previous seven seasons that remains unexplored. More recently, the repercussions from Sam's time in the cage. Other than that, it's hard to tell. I hope they do justice with the flashbacks and all for both Sam and Dean and not just Purgatory happened. It sucked. Moving on, now.

I'm also a sucker for the Weechester back story. So, hopefully, we'll see a bit of that, too.

If the internet was to disappear today and you only had the chance to save one fan fiction (or one author), which (who) would it be?Okay, I know I am obsessed with a show when I start searching for fanfic. However, it takes me a while to start cottoning on to authors and I am only just now beginning to do that. I tend to devour fanfic at an alarming pace and then I lose track of who wrote what and where I found it. (Because I'm totally stupid and don't bookmark stuff and even though this isn't my first fandom rodeo, I never seem to learn this lesson.)
So, a couple of stories that have stuck with me:
An AU apocafuture fic where Dean and a ragtag group of people are on the road, trying to reach this resistance sort of last hold-out. Sam said yes, wrought massive death and destruction, but Dean found him and got through to him. (I think Sam lost an eye in the process). Andy's there, too and it's all about their journey and a final showdown.

And another where Sam is trying to save Dean from the Hell deal and does this spell that sends them both back in time to the time of the Civil War where they meet two other brothers with their own brotherly issues and have to fight in a few wartime battles. There's quite a few more, of course, and I could go on and on. No one wants that.

All time favorite episode:Are you kidding me!?! I'm not very good at picking favorite episodes because I can never pin it down to one. Whenever I try and pin down a few, I'll watch another one and think, "Oh...wait..". The list is constantly changing.

And I'm gonna have to make a second post for the last question as I've exceeded character limits. I'm a bit long-winded today!

Anything else you want to share? At first I was gonna say, no, but then I remembered a post I'd made when I realized that I was well and truly addicted. (pretty fast! Post is dated April 21, 2012! I debated pasting it here because, you know, new student fan; New school fandom but then thought, why the heck not?

No, what little free, fun time I have has been totally taken over by Supernatural and it's high time I start gushing (more!). I don't know if I'm just one of these people who just loves to be sucked into fictional things or if the whole avoidance of the Merlin spoilery has inadvertently pushed me toward a new fandom love interest. I don't think I've abandoned Merlin; it's just been thrown into the back seat of the Impala for the present time.
Speaking of the Impala, I miss it this season. It's totally a character. And with that I am going to segue into my Top 10 Reasons Why Supernatural is Da Bomb, Yo.

1) Sam and Dean, Dean and Sam..however you say it, the brothers Winchester are the heart of this show. I have never really known why I tend to be drawn into Bromance-y relationships even more often than I am romantic ones. When did this bulletproof kink start? The Outsiders, perhaps? (A book I read about a bazillion times and the only book my son has ever read more than once) Speaking of The Outsiders, I read, somewhere, that S.E. Hinton actually writes SPN fanfic. (I think it was a twitter response to someone else.) I don't know how true that is but it would be great fun to happen upon it sometime.
2) Best. Mytharc. Ever! I love a fantastic, interconnected mythology. For every show I have ever loved, I have had to buy in and adore the mytharc. I tend to get into it so much that I begin to resent the stand-a-lone episodes. For this show, it would be the ghost/demon/monster of the week episodes except....
3) Monster of the week episodes do not hit reset button every single time. Even the stand-a-lone's will contain important information about the overall arc and/or will highlight an important character arc/relationship/plot point/you name it. This is a wonderful thing and is done exceptionally well. This has always been hit or miss, and my most frequent beef with teevee, even in shows that I have adored. It's like nothing is ever forgotten here. There is always a possibility that something will be explored in greater detail later. The characters do not reset themselves, either. At the moment, there are tons of things I'd like to see revisited and I think the amulet, and the fallout from Dean's trashing the amulet, given what that meant to the both of them, is at the top of the list.
4) Total balance. This show ALWAYS balances the humor, drama/angst, and the darkness rather well. Most times, it seems rather seamless in that respect.
5) Slacker! Interesting and well developed supporting characters that you love as much as the boys and villains that are NOT moustache twirling, one dimensional caricatures.
6) Homage to fandom! This show actually "gets" fandom and fandom culture. Seriously! Some of my favorite laugh out loud episodes have dealt with this aspect. I was peeing in my pants laughing during the episode where Sam and Dean end up at a Supernatural convention. (It was actually a pretty decent ghost story, too. See number 4)
7) Not taking itself too seriously. Speaking of laughter, this show can laugh at itself, too, and I haven't seen that done with such humor since Stargate SG-1
8) The Impala: A mode of transportation that actually feels like a character. It had its own episode and everything. This has happened for me before. The Stargate. Moya (sortof..Moya actually falls into her own category in that she is actually a sentient being but still)
9) Vidder's delight. The show does it's own version of a music vid before the season finales and at the beginning of the season premieres. That totally rocks!
10) Major eye candy. Superficially speaking, of course.

What kind of hurt!Sam would you like to see in S8: I remember there had once been an epsiode of Angel, where Corldelia entered a paralle universe and there Angel was this totally broken caged monster. I'd love to see something like that, maybe Dean visiting a world were Sam had been caught and tortured for his abilitis.
