If you've found some hurt!Sam or hurt!Jared works that you think we've missed please be sure to rec it to our themes at spn_littlebro (if you're not sure how to do that feel free to ask *g*). If you haven't been able to find what you've been looking for, hopefully we can help you out!

Who's Hurting Sam or Jared Lately?

• ash48 continued to enjoy the offerings of the wonderful work from spn_meanttobe. She thoroughly enjoyed Terms of Engagement by cleflink. Summary: This wedding was pretty much guaranteed to be a clusterfuck of monumental proportions even before Jared decided that it would be a good idea to convince a ridiculously good-looking spy to pretend to be his fiancé. Especially when Mr. Hot Spy has his own reasons for being at the resort. That might just get Jared killed. Sometimes, Jared makes really bad life choices. ash48 says this is a delightful tale that features super hot spy Jensen and befuddled but ultimately competent Jared. Jared's life is threatened and it seems Jensen just might care (a lot!) about that. Be sure to check out the wonderful art by becc_j.


• A new "ficfandom" has popped up for a spn_kinkmeme fill. If you haven't already discovered rlbivob, then ash48 suggests to get on over there ASAP! The story, Red Like Blood in Veins of Blue, by golden_cyborg is a gripping WIP featuring sexy mob boss Jensen and sexy, love struck and somewhat vulnerable Jared. There's quite a bit of hurt!jared and lots of possessive!Jensen.


• If S9 fix-it fics are something you are needing then be sure to check out two brilliant stories that appeared last month. Touch and Go by themegalosaurus is one such fic. ash48 loved the way it used Dean's POV to explore Sam's trauma. She say It's sensitively written and even provides a back story to the boys' original tattoo.


• reggie11 would like to recommend the other fix-it fic. Unresolved by freya922. She says" It's a non-accusatory look at the boys' relationship during season 9. It beautifully explains Sam's headspace, the anger, guilt, fear and despair and how he comes to see Dean's POV just a little better, a little too late. Heartbreaking. The author's love of both Sam and Dean shines through. This is a Season 9 story spanning the time between Captives and Do You Believe in Miracles? It's highly recommended!


• cherry916 would like to draw your attention to a WIP by sammygirl1963, Dog Day Afternoon. Summary: Will the hunt for a Mimick Dog cost John the lives of those he holds most precious or will they be able to stop the beast in time? It's a gen fic and cherry916 says This is another great case fic featuring John, Joshua and Sam and Dean as teens. This is a WIP as of now, but it's already shaping up to be an amazing hurt!Sam fic with protective Dean, John and Joshua!


• ayane42 is raving about a recent spn_j2_bigbang story. Fractured by rankwriter. Summary: Jared Padalecki, editor and wannabe author. He loves to run and keep in shape, although not as much as he loves his boyfriend, Jensen. Jared is a fit, and healthy young man until a freak accident changes his life irrevocably. Now Jared has to learn to live a different life filled with incredible limitations. Can he do it? Is that even what he wants? His relationship with Jensen will have to be reevaluated and redefined drastically. Can they make it work against the odds? ayane42 says, This is an incredible read! A very touching and realistic view of living with a life changing injury and the love between Jared and Jensen. It's NC17 and features a major life changing injury.

Featured Fic Recs:

• ayane42 has a couple of older stories to rec this month. The first one is The Autistic Son of Mine by kimsboy82. Summary: Sam's a different kid. John knows that, because he's nothing like Dean was. But he's not disabled. He can't be. But he is and John struggles to come to terms with it. ayane42 says, This is a wonderful story about Sam growing up with autism and how Dean and John cope with it. The author has autism, so it is a very detailed story about the struggles that Sam faces. This story is is rated R and is mild Sam/Dean.


• The second story is a AU J2 fic by nerdwegian, Real Life: Good for You. Summary: College is not what Jared had imagined. Instead of happy days with Chad and his friends, there's just Jared - alone in Bumfuck, Nowheresville, while Chad's living it up in California. ayane42 says,I read this story a while ago. I love it because in it Jared plays World of Warcraft (I too am a nerdy geek like that) and he is so shy and awkward I could really relate to him. I think the author did a great job showing the building relationship between Jared and Jensen, as well as Jared's shyness and social awkwardness. It gave me the warm fuzzes!

• art: cherry916 recommends you check out Hurt!Sam and Protective!Dean by by moosekleenex She says, I mean, after a title like that, how can you resist it? These are little drawings highlighting a few of the times that Dean went all protective mode on Sam.


• art: reggie11 also has some wonderful art to share. Sick Symbiosis by cris98765 She says, This is Sam and Gadreel. It's not only an amazing drawing of Sam, the artist has used animated SPFX. Stunning.


• music videos: reggie11 has discovered a music video that has equal hurt!Sam and hurt!Dean. Please Don't Go is by xforbiddenxlove/. She says, this is this a truly heartbreaking look at the Winchesters' journeys - their deaths, intense love, grief and them not being able to let go. Bring tissues...lots of them!


• podfic: ash48 listened to a terrific podfic recently. All in the Game, Yo is written by sonofabiscuit77 and is wonderfully read by glovered. Summary: The Wire AU, Dad was shot and killed by a police officer when Sam was five... Sam and Dean grow up in care on Baltimore’s Westside where drug-dealers and drug-pushers rule the streets, where kids face the reality of playing the Game or becoming a junkie, where two white boys have nothing to rely on except each other and their own smarts. ash48 says, this is a gritty, and at times, disturbing story about the boys growing up without their father. As with all of sonofabiscuit77's Sam/Dean stories, it's the intense love between them that makes it so compelling. The boys are often ruthless, due to their circumstances. Check the warnings. It's NC17 and features consensual weecest.


• eBooks etc.: harrigan has discovered a couple of great stories that are available as eBooks. One is Sideline by mrs_robinson123 Summary: Jared Padalecki is an NBA Forward for the San Antonio Spurs. At 23 years old, he's got an amazing career, an awesome house in Austin, friends, family and 2 dogs that love him, his life is pretty great. Jared wasn't looking for love, but then he met Jensen Ackles, the pool boy. It's J2AU and features one of harrigan's favourite types of hurt. She says, There can never be enough sports J2AU. This has orthopedic trauma FTW ♥ but is also cleanly written, with human characters who make mistakes but remain believable guys you root for. It's from the 2014 spn_j2_bigbang, and therefore over 20K.


• The second story one is also from this year's spn_j2_bigbang, Once There was a Way to Get Back Homeward, by crimson epitaph Summary: Jared leads an elite counter-terrorist team. When he meets the new guy, Jensen, sparks fly. Jared knows getting involved is a bad idea, but Jensen's persistence is hard to resist. Missions become more complicated, and when they go wrong - when not everyone makes it out, and what happens after is the stuff of nightmares - the consequences may be too much to deal with. It's J2AU and harrigan says this story has Terse writing, with POV characters who sound like Special Forces teammates - for when you're in the mood for something gritty.
